RIVER KINGS SIGN RUNNING BACK FROM OPEN TRYOUT
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (November 9, 2019) — The Cedar Rapids River Kings announce the signing of running back Eddie Lusk III for the 2020 IFL season.
Lusk III, currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Political Science at Eastern Illinois University, was signed after a standout performance at the team’s open tryouts. A 2018 graduate of Eastern Illinois, he brings good size and explosion to the River Kings’ backfield. He has exceptional speed. As a high school senior, he earned All-Conference accolades in four different events, and made All-State in the 4 x 200 meter dash.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity,” Lusk says. “I’m always looking for ways to take my game to the next level, and Cedar Rapids is a perfect fit. I’m grateful to the organization for the opportunity.”
Lusk III was offered a contract immediately after tryouts concluded. “Eddie really showed us something today,” says General Manager Reggie Harris. “Coach [Victor] Mann and Coach [Trae] Ivory and I talked it over, and it was an easy decision. He clearly brings a lot to the game, and we’re eager to see him on the field in 2020.”
We’re working to line up an in-depth interview with Eddie here in the next few days. Stay tuned, and please join us in welcoming him to Cedar Rapids.
